Hi. I’m Melissa. I’m 29. I have no idea what I’m doing with my money. I realize I’m pretty lucky. I have a tiny bit left to pay off on a school loan, no real credit card debt, a full time job and no big bills. So I have a little extra cash… and no idea what you do with it. This is my journey to suck at investing a little less. Because I’m scared of retiring to a cardboard box under an overpass in 40 years.
If you’re like me and total flummoxed by all the money advice thrown at you, lack of a clear path to follow and wish – just the tiniest bit – that it was still 1950 and you could just pop out a few kids and make some man handle this money crap (and kill all the spiders [sorry, feminists]), this might be the site for you. Although popping out a few kids totally isn’t on my radar yet. And letting anyone else handle my financial decisions actually freaks me out as much as possibly living in a cardboard box someday.
But maybe I might want to buy a house in the next 5 years. And I would like to be financially prepared to be able to do that, too. So hopefully, these are my first steps on a journey to financial stability.
